Originally from Syracuse, New York, Mikki Zip is now living in Nashville pursuing her passions in the music industry. When she moved to Nashville at thirteen, she always played coffee shops, barbecue joints, and anywhere they would let a thirteen year old play. Mikki began writing music when she was a little older than ten and always kept with it. Since then, she has been discovering her sound as an artist and techniques as a songwriter. Mikki Zip's latest release, "Poor Mama," is a, "sassy tune with a capital S." She said that she loves to write a good sassy tune. "Poor Mama," is story about a boy but it's also about his mom. "She’s the one I feel bad for. She has to deal with him while I don't anymore." He's her problem now. Mikki played this song out a few times with and without her band and people liked it either way. She's focusing on promotion and working with social media to keep the momentum going with the single. While TikTok and Instagram seems like tedious work, it's worth it to continue to build an authentic fanbase.

Why is Mikki Zip still creating music? It's actually quite simple: she has a burning love for music and a desire to grow in the rapidly changing industry. The interactions with other writers and artists keep her going. Some people come up to her after shows to ask for pictures and others comment on her videos to keep going.

Mikki Zip has an entire songbook ready to take to her producer and her band. She's booking more full band shows and taking her time to keep re-branding herself and her music. We go through stages in our careers where we outgrow who we used to be and replace our old songs with new releases. Mikki Zip's new sound still pulls from her original work, just with new twists. Zip is maturing as an artist and as a songwriter and it shows in her new music. "Poor Mama," had great production and great musicians backing up insane vocals. Her sound is unique and this is a song you won't be able to get out of your head for a few days.
